In the 1950’s beauty and fashion was starting a revolution. Although fashion shows and cat walks had been around since the 1800s, everything began to change in 1947 when Christian Dior unveiled his groundbreaking “Corelle” collection. From that point on everything was different.
Fashion was in demand, and edgy new styles were sought after. This demand for new looks and boundary pushing style continued, with changes in both clothes and hair. Something which cemented itself in 1954 when a little over 300 people gathered in London to watch the first live, on stage hair styling competition: The L’Oreal Professional Color Style Trophy Contest.
This contest has been held yearly through Europe since then with the attendees growing from those first few hundred to over eight thousand. And this year, for the first time, this competition has come to the United States.

Studio Branca first heard about the arrival of the competition to the States last year when Mark Branca our fearless leader and founder was attending the finals in Portugal. It was from that day forward that we began our work, eager and ready to give our best and stun the world with what the United States, and Studio Branca, can do.

In the months before the images of our final style were due, the staff of Studio Branca met on Sunday evening’s discussing ideas, brainstorming looks, scouring old competitions and high fashion magazines. We looked at pictures, we watched runway shows, and we let our imagination run wild as we created looks that we were proud of, all in the hopes of being selected as one of the five finalists in the six categories of the competition and seeing our styles walk the runway in New York City.

Submitting entries in each of the areas; Color & Style, Color, Styling and Cutting, Men’s Image and Young Talent was a lot of work – but well worth the effort, as we found out a few weeks ago that we will be sending not just one, but three different stylists to the finalists competition in New York City.

This is a huge opportunity as we are the only salon in the US to be sending multiple finalists, and the only one in our area to be competing for such a huge award! Our hard work definitely paid off!

For the finals we will be sending the following finalists to the competition.
